Hello Subscriber First Name,

I hope the official start of fall finds you well. Life painting continues in the studio as I carry on with botanical studies of Dahlias. Soon they’ll be dug up from the garden to store in the basement over the winter, but for now I’m squeezing in every last bit of the season. This first piece features one of the darlings in the Dahlia world: Cafe Au Lait. It is paired with some wild Yarrow I found growing on the woodland edge. 

Next up is Strawberry Ice. She is impressive in the garden with her large showy splashes of pink and yellow. She accompanies Goldenrod, that fall-time spray of sunshine.

And here is a pattern play with some curb-side clover collected on a walk. I only took a few so as not to rob the bumble bees of their joy. 

I’ll be sad when these lovelies are no longer on my drawing table, but on the bright side, that’s when the fun of botanical research and the planning of next year’s garden begins.
